Electrical Wiring, Testing & Maintenance

You’ll gain hands-on experience in electrical safety, isolation procedures, testing and the use of test equipment, alongside wiring lighting, ring and spur circuits and working from electrical drawings. The maintenance element covers three-phase motors, starters, control gear, motor testing, fault-finding and wiring, including direct-on-line and star-delta starters. Suitable for anyone looking to develop their electrical skills, the course is delivered in two 8-day parts and includes a portfolio-based assessment. Successful delegates will receive an EAL-accredited Certificate of Competence.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics
Build a practical foundation in hydraulics and pneumatics with this 4-day Alliance Learning-certified course, designed for mechanical/electrical fitters and maintenance personnel with no previous experience. You’ll develop an understanding of safety procedures, CETOP (BS2917) symbols, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, circuit testing, basic fault-finding and maintenance. The course covers measuring and marking out, bench fitting, safe use of workshop equipment, filing, sawing, drilling, reaming, countersinking, drill grinding, key fitting, pulley and shaft alignment, drive belts, bearings and fitting/extraction techniques. Delegates will build a portfolio of practical work for assessment, with successful completion leading to an Alliance Learning Certificate of Competence.
Level 2 Award in Welding
Develop and enhance your welding skills with this practical Level 2 City & Guilds-certified course, designed for those already working in the industry who want to build their competence and progress their career. Delivered in our dedicated Fabrication and Welding building, the course combines welding techniques with essential health and safety knowledge, with a choice of MMA, TIG or MIG welding. Delivered over 17 weeks with evening sessions, assessment includes practical welding assignments and an oral knowledge test. Successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds certificate evidencing competence in their chosen welding process.
Level 3 Award in Welding
Advance your welding skills with this practical Level 3 City & Guilds-certified course, designed for those already working in the industry who want to develop their expertise and progress to more complex welding and quality control. Delivered in our dedicated Fabrication and Welding building, the course combines advanced welding techniques with essential health and safety knowledge through practical workshop sessions. Delivered over 30 weeks with evening classes, assessment includes five practical assignments for each mandatory unit and an online 30-question underpinning knowledge test. Successful candidates will gain a City & Guilds qualification recognising their advanced welding competence.
